This stretch of road is about 67 km in length. It runs from Hwy 97 near the north end of Okanagan Lake to Hwy 97 in West Kelowna. The north end is more relaxed. Sections of the road are very narrow, twisty and hilly. The road surface is for the most part pretty good, including some new pavement, but some stretches are quite rough. A lot of the road is essentially cut into the mountain side, and there are steep drops (a bit scary in places). The speed limit is 60 / 70 kph. Corners are marked at 30, 40, 50 and 60 kph. There can be a lot of traffic, especially on the south end. The road runs through some residential areas and resort developments. Watch for rock ( and mountain sheep) on the road in some sections in the southern third. There are nice views of Okanagan Lake, hillsides, downtown Kelowna and the Kelowna bridge. Exercise caution on this road as there have been many accidents along it.

June 21 2013 update: road contruction is ongoing. There is currently about a half kilometre section that is being reconstructed close to the mid-point (or maybe a bit south of it).

Sept, 2015 update: Some of the rougher pavement sections have now been repaved, but road construction is still ongoing on the southern end (north of Bear creek Provincial Park).
